public class Ring { abstract public RingElement add(RingElement,RingElement); abstract public RingElement mult(RingElement, RingElement); ... } Both methods have “ring elements” as arguments and return values. A RingElement is a class that can be (polymorphically) associated to any object (e.g. a multi-precision integer, or a vector of RingElement objects). Not all methods need to be abstract. For instance a method square can be implemented via a = a · a using the abstract multiplication method. More sophisticated non-abstract methods are exponentiation or evaluation of a polynomial. Thus, an abstract Java class is able to mimic the axiomatic definition of a mathematical entity, here a “ring”. The axioms addition and multiplication appear as abstract methods in Ring while squaring is not axiomatic and therefore may be implemented. Note that structural axioms such as associativity or distributivity cannot VOL 5, NO. 6 JOURNAL OF OBJECT TECHNOLOGY 109 ENRICHING THE OBJECT-ORIENTED PARADIGM VIA SHADOWS IN THE CONTEXT OF MATHEMATICS

Declarative Semantics in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey
One of the modern paradigms to develop an application is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles in applications. In an application, we must distinguish between procedural semantics and declarative semantics for their implementation in a specific programming language. For the procedural semantics, we can write a ...
متن کاملObjects Identification in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey on Techniques
Analysis and design of object oriented is onemodern paradigms for developing a system. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. Identifying objects (and classes) is one of the most important steps in the object-oriented paradigm. This paper makes a literature review over techniques to identify objects and then presents six taxonomies for them. The f...
متن کاملOn Attributes of Objects in Object-Oriented Software Analysis
One of the modern paradigms to develop a system is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. There is a sequence of activities to develop an analysis model. In the first step, we work in developing an initial use case model. Then in the second step, they identify a number of concepts and build a glossary of partic...
متن کاملUsing P300 to Evaluate the Effect of Object Color Knowledge in Novelty Detection
A B S T R A C T Introduction: In an oddball experiment, the context in which novel stimuli are presented affects characteristics of novelty P3, i.e. as long as there is a difficult task in which the difference between standard and target stimuli is small, recurrent presentation of a highly discrepant stimulus can lead to P300 highly similar to novelty P3. Effect of stimulus properties on P300 h...
متن کاملContext-oriented Lighting Strategy in Urban Spaces (Using Space Syntax Method) Case study: Historical Fabric of Isfahan
Lighting plays a key role in night escapes of urban spaces, in a way that it can be effective in giving identity to them. By considering this importance and inexistence of a process for composing urban Lighting strategy made this study to be conducted by the objective of providing process for compilation of context-oriented lighting strategy in urban spaces. Reaching a suitable solution for Li...
